Description

Asenema Waterfalls is one of the Eastern Region’s hidden natural gems, nestled within the lush Akuapem Hills near the village of Asenema in the Okere District. Unlike many of Ghana’s waterfalls that require long hikes, Asenema is easily accessible via a 5-minute walk along a well-marked forest trail from the roadside, making it an excellent destination for families, casual hikers, and visitors of all ages.

The waterfall plunges approximately 15–20 metres over a rocky cliff into a shallow natural pool surrounded by dense tropical forest, bamboo groves, and abundant birdlife. During the rainy season (typically April to July), the waterfall reaches its fullest flow, creating a spectacular setting for photography, relaxation, and nature appreciation. The peaceful atmosphere and scenic drive through the Akuapem Hills make Asenema one of the most rewarding day-trip destinations from Accra.
