Wildlife Sanctuary | Cultural Village | Eco Tourism | Nature Experience
Description
The Tafi-Atome Monkey Sanctuary And Cultural Village is one of Ghana’s finest examples of community-based ecotourism. Established in 1993, the sanctuary protects a sacred forest that is home to Mona monkeys and Patas monkeys, which local people have traditionally regarded as sacred for generations. Guided by members of the community, visitors can walk through the forest, hand-feed the habituated Mona monkeys, learn about Ewe traditions, visit the cultural village, enjoy traditional drumming and dancing, and support local conservation efforts. The sanctuary has also benefited from major visitor facility upgrades, making it one of the Volta Region’s top eco-tourism destinations.
