Description
Nestled high in Ghana’s Volta Highlands, Amedzofe is one of the country’s highest inhabited towns, sitting at approximately 677 metres (2,220 ft) above sea level. Renowned for its cool climate, lush mountain scenery, German missionary history, and panoramic landscapes, Amedzofe is one of Ghana’s premier eco-tourism destinations.
Its crown jewel is Ote Waterfalls, an impressive 80-metre multi-tiered waterfall hidden within a pristine tropical forest. Visitors reach the falls via a moderately challenging forest hike that includes 259 steps leading to one of Ghana’s newest canopy walkways, offering breathtaking aerial views of the rainforest before arriving at the cascading waterfall. The surrounding forest is home to birds, butterflies, and diverse plant life, making the journey as memorable as the destination itself.
