Description
Kakum National Park is Ghana’s premier rainforest destination and one of the country’s most visited natural attractions. Covering approximately 375 km² of the Upper Guinea Rainforest, the park was designated a national park in 1992 to protect its exceptional biodiversity. It is internationally renowned for its Canopy Walkway—a series of seven suspension bridges stretching approximately 333–350 metres and suspended 27–40 metres above the forest floor, providing spectacular views of the rainforest canopy.
The park is home to over 40 species of mammals, including forest elephants, bongos, Diana monkeys, and duikers, along with more than 300 bird species and hundreds of butterfly species. In addition to the canopy walk, visitors can enjoy guided rainforest hikes, birdwatching, camping, tree houses, educational tours, and cultural experiences led by trained park guides.
