Cultural Centre | Museum | Arts & Crafts | Heritage Attraction
Description
The Centre for National Culture, popularly known as the Kumasi Cultural Centre, is one of Ghana’s most important cultural institutions. Established in 1956 (originally as the Asante Cultural Centre), it was founded to preserve, promote, and celebrate the rich heritage of the Ashanti Kingdom and Ghana as a whole. Today, the centre serves as a vibrant hub for traditional arts, music, dance, crafts, and cultural education. Visitors can watch artisans create wood carvings, pottery, kente cloth, beads, leatherworks, and Adinkra textiles, while also exploring museums, exhibitions, and live cultural performances. It remains one of the best places in Ghana to experience authentic Ashanti culture and purchase locally made handicrafts directly from artisans.
